My computer is detecting an external mouse even when there isn't one plugged in, how do I fix it?
I have and external usb mouse for my laptop. I like the touchpad disabled when I use the mouse, so I checked the option to disable the touchpad only when an external mouse is detected. But, when the mouse is unplugged, the touchpad still won't work. Also, I can't re-enable the touchpad by keyboard, because once I get to the mouse settings in the control panel, it asks me to click in order to change the touchpad settings.My computer is detecting an external mouse even when there isn%26#039;t one plugged in, how do I fix it?You'll probably need to make the changes with the mouse attached, remove the mouse and then restart the machine to let the changes take effect.
Why is my keyboard displaying the wrong charactors on screen?
My settings are set to US language settings for the keyboard but whenever I go to type the backslash symbol I get the %26quot;#%26quot; Symbol and when I go to type the @ symbol it comes up with the %26quot; symbol.

How to set up the Universal Wireless Keyboard for Palm TX ?
The universal wireless keyboard I bought for my Palm TX pda is not working. I reinstalled the software, changed the batteries, reset the settings, all to no avail. Then point the keyboard IR beacon at the TX and see if there is IR signal. If not try fiddling with the battery contacts on the IR keyboard. My IR keyboard was intermittant until I tweaked the battery contacts for a more positive connection.
When it all works, optimize the beacon position for best keyboard response in both portrait and landscape modes on the TX.

Okay so. I hate this laptop (venting)
For some reason my laptop decided to change settings. I had it so my touchpad was just for moving my cursor not clicking/selecting . purely for the fact i hate how it jumps around and makes typing difficult
But now its decided to revert back to clicking/selecting as well as moving. Ive looked under mouse settings , i've looked in every conceivable place for this setting. Eg: Control panel , Mouse , Keyboard.
also the scroll button has stopped working too.

How do I restore my computer's toolbar settings?
I was cleaning my keyboard today and I must have hit a key to make it so that the toolbar at the top of the page (where you would type in the web address) disappears unless you put your cursor at the top of the page. It also changed the settings so that I can't access the other pages I'm working on unless I minimize the current page I'm working on. Before, I could just go down to the bottom and select which page I want to go back to. Can't do that now. Any ideas on how to fix it? I have Windows xp and use internet explorer. How do I restore my computer%26#039;s toolbar settings?easiest would be to do a system restore back to a point that all was OK. If this is not possible, there are settings that need to be changed.
Batman Arkham Asylum gives you only ONE chance to choose your video settings, and NEVER lets you change them?
I downloaded the demo from Steam and ran it. I was in the middle of doing something when I was configuring the video settings. Had I known I would have no other opportunity to make these choices, I would have been MUCH more meticulous about hobbling the graphics from the getgo (P4 sans HT, 8400, 2GB RAM, Win7). First time I ran it, I turned up the volume using my keyboard and suddenly fullscreen 800x600 turned into windowed 800x600, with nowhere to change it back. I didn't see an exit option in the menus so I ALT+4 out and it says %26quot;are you sure you want to exit to desktop?%26quot; no, I'm randomly flippant, YES I want to exit! So I do. I get %26quot;your program has stopped responding blah blah blah%26quot; 3x in succession. Since then, whenever I run the B.A.A. demo, it only loads in 800x600 windows with all the settings on high, and it never gives me the option to adjust them before or after the game loads.
I tried finding something in the registry to delete, but all I found was an entry under HKLM-Software called %26quot;RocksteadyLtd%26quot; and deleting that didn't do jack.
Am I the lucky first person to have this problem, or have others run into this? More importantly has anyone figured out how to fix this?

Click on Bmlauncher.exe. Voila. Why they couldn't be bothered to put this in the game is beyond me, but hey, I'll give them a break since it's probably the first movie game that is actually unique and fun to play.

ok, so I was/am having trouble with itunes and they emailed me a couple things I needed to change on my computer soooo I will walk you through what I did and pray someone can help me!!!
I went to the start up menu, advanced search for regedit, right click and open regedit, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then go to System, then Control Set, then Control, then Class, click on 4D36E96B, right click on upper filter, click modify, then cut the number or code and replace it with another code... Ok so now my keyboard does not work and I need someone with a Dell to tell me what the code was before I changed it!!! My Dad has an HP and when I go through all those steps his code is kbdclass, so I know it is something that simple and if I had the right code I know how to fix it! FYI the code on my dads computer did not work when put into my computer:( So now not only is itunes not fixed, I'm also having to use my Dad's computer now:( If anyone cares to try to help me, please follow the steps above without cutting your code or we will be in the same boat! Hello there, i have a question, i want to know how to make my computer type in different languages. For an ex would be: when i press ALT on my keyboard, the language changes, and i could type in that language, when i press ALT again, it changes back to English. How do i make it so that my computer types different languages, but not change the settings and everything to a different language? I am using WinXP SP2 and, while the Windows Explorer menus are all in English, something has been set to German which I can't figure. For example, when I open Internet Explorer and do a search in Google, I get results in German. When I install Photoshop, all the menus are in German. What's maddening is that, while Photoshop normally grants the option of choosing a language during installation, this is bypassed for me and the default is still German!
I'm merely using Photoshp as an example. There is some kind of regional setting which makes applications default to German and I can't figure it out. Can anyone help?

How do I close laptop when using external monitor w/o it sleeping.?
I have a windows 7 compaq laptop that I've hooked up to my big monitor for home use. I changed the settings to use external monitor only and the screen turns off, but it sleeps if you close it. How to type Arabic numbers on keyboard.?
I changed my language bar settings in Windows Vista so I can type in Arabic. That works fine. But for numbers, it continues printing the English style numbers. I tried the number row and the keypad on the right side of the keyboard. Tried numlock on/off, tried ctrl+shift+alt combinations, and so on. Under %26quot;Complex Script%26quot; Tab, change the %26quot;Numerals%26quot; to %26quot;Hindi%26quot;
and you should be able to input the other %26quot;Arabic%26quot; Numbering system

try to right-mouse-click on the main toolbar (bottom of your screen) and under Toolbars, check if the 'Language bar' is selected...or appears as an option...

I can still switch my keyboards even though the bar is not checked... but if the 'language bar' doesn't show up under the 'toolbar' menu you may want to remove the Czech keyword, restart your computer, add the Czech keyboard again and see if it works...

I don't know how to explain this, my keyboard IS WRITING BACKWARDS. For example the word example will come out elpmaxe. I haven't changed any settings and its only in Mozilla Firefox, ie is working fine. Could it be a virus? If not, What?

It may be text input problem because the OS thinks that you want to write in a language that is written Right-to-Left (ie: Hebrew, Arabic) instead of Left-to-Right (English).

my pc was infected with a virus and it changed a few settings on my pc. When I press this key called Fn and the volume, the volume bar does not appear on the computer so i dont know how loud my volume is (parents get mad if its too loud). Problem with Compaq Presario laptop keyboard settings?
This is a Compact Presario CQ50-107NR Notebook PC laptop with Windows Vista. Anyways, I noticed with this laptop, there are a lot less keys then the standard keyboard, but with the home, insert, delete, etc. keys, and with the function keys, they have other choices for the keys. For instance, on the scroll key, it says scroll and underneath scroll is a little box that says num lk, then on the insert key, under insert it has a little box that says prt sc. My question is, how do you change the setting so when you hit those keys, it will do what it says in the little boxes on each key instead. I tried caps lock, but that doesn't work. Hi, in windows, if you hit WIN-R on your keyboard you'll open up the %26quot;run box%26quot; found in START%26gt;RUN.

How to lock a keyboard to prevent toddler from messing up computer settings?
Is there any way to lock the keys on the keyboard so that an 18 month old cannot make the computer perform functions I didn't know it was capable of?
This kid runs up and types and suddenly the computer is downloading things, backgrounds are changed, harddrives are reformatted etc etc.
I understand keeping the kid away would be ideal but for those times when it's not possible I want to know how to lock the keys.

I dont know what I did but its annoying trying to listen to a cd on media player and type something on word or msn. Okay, I managed to break the LCD display on my laptop yesterday. I was planning to replace the laptop some time in the summer when I had a bit more money, so I don't want a repair. I suspect that would be possible, but if I successfully connected the two, would I need to do anything to make the display come on? My keyboard types in the wrong characters?
I have a gateway laptop with windows 7. When i type in some of the grammer symobls i get weird letters like this. 脠猫脌篓^^篓脟脵霉. how to i fix this. I cant use square brackets or commas or most of the other grammer stuff.

How do I switch to romaji -> kana conversion instead of using Japanese Keyboard settings?
I'm using Windows XP, using Microsoft IME Standard 2002 and Microsoft Natural Input 2002. I used to have these extra buttons on my language bar that allowed me to switch between different input modes (hiragana, full/half-width katakana, full/half-width alphanumeric), but for some reason, those buttons are no longer there. The only way to enter Japanese text without using an external program now is to click the 'kana' button, in which case it just acts like I have a Japanese keyboard (with every key becoming kana directly, with QWERTY becoming ??????). This is rather annoying, as I don't have a Japanse keyboard, nor do I know the Japanese keyboard layout. I can't get Logitech wireless keyboard and Microsoft optical mouse to work together?
I installed the Logitech Wireless Keyboard software on my computer, and a Microsoft Optical Mouse (it's not wireless). Even though I chose only they keyboard when I installed the Logitech software, it installed the wireless mouse in my device manager anyway, which was blocking the functions of my 5 button mouse. I figured out that I had to uninstall the logitech wireless mouse from my device manager in order for the other mouse to work, but every time i turn on the computer, it is installed again. And every time I log on to the computer, my pointer settings on my microsoft mouse change. Problem with shift key?
When i am on the internet and i press the shift key on my laptop it asks if i want to turn on to standy by i have changed the keyboard settings and turned the sticky keys off. I have cleaned the keyboard as well and there was no dirt etc there

I accidentally changed my mouse settings to a gaming control device and now have no use of any portable mouse or the touch pad. I'm not sure the keyboard is functional either. What's wrong with my keyboard settings?
After reinstalling windows my keyboard config got messed up. Basically, when I press the ' button, nothing will appear until I have pressed the next key. It will then determine whether to place an apostrophe or an accent. For example, pressing ' and then E makes a 茅 letter. I have windows XP on my computer and I just had it formatted. I used to be able to drag and drop icons and it would simply move them to the new folder. Now it seems like the default setting is to copy. I tried googling this but all I get is how to change the option with the keyboard/mouse. I have a HP vt6200 Omnibook laptop with German Keyboard. Recently my internal harddisk crashed and I replaced with a new IDE disk. I installed Windows XP (English US) afresh. I have purchased a Laptop with windows vista. I want to give it to my close friend as gift on his upcoming birthday. But the problem is he doesn't understand English very well.
I want to convert everything into Sapnish including all the menus, help files, everything. I tried using Country and Regional Settings, but there is no option beside changing keyboard.

I want to convert everything into Sapnish including all the menus, help files, everything. I tried using Country and Regional Settings, but there is no option beside changing keyboard.
So, what are my options?

The Caps Lock key is the most useless key ever. I want to change it to a second Enter button, for doing design work. On the Regional Options tab - Choose English (United Kingdom) from the drop down list
In the space that says Location (further down the same page) choose United Kingdom
Click on the Advanced tab (at the top of that same dialog box). In the drop down box, choose English (United Kingdom)
Click OK

I have to re-install Windows.So i need to set Bios For booting from CD.
But I have a usb keyboard that doesnt work untill windows is started.
So the Problem is I need to change bios settings but cant.
I have 2 other PS2 keyboards that are good But PS2 plug/slot in my cpu doesnt works. :(

How do i change num lock settings?
So, idk what i did, but i pressed something on my keyboard and everything got all messed up. i have a 17%26quot; hp laptop with a number pad. before today, i was able to have number lock %26quot;on%26quot; and be able to use my keyboard. but now, when i turn number lock on, the right side of my keyboard turns into the number pad, so the u, i, o, p keys turn into 4, 5, 6, *

Keyboard Problems again!!?

My keyboard has an %26quot;E- Mail%26quot; button on it. It used to be programed to Yahoo! Mail.
One day my computer broke down, we got it fixed, and then the mail button didn't work anymore!
A couple of weeks later it works! Bam! Then here comes up Microsoft Outlook. Great. I tried to go to the keyboard settings and change the e- mail button to Yahoo! mail; but it still goes to Microsoft Outlook!
What can I do??
