How do i configure the f keys on my laptop keyboard?

I've looked under the control panel, keyboard settings eveything but i cant seem to find anything that will simply allow me to use the f keys only when i press f3 f4 for example they should change the volume up and down but it doesnt workHow do i configure the f keys on my laptop keyboard?Smash the F keys with a hammer and it should work
