Is there any way to lock the keys on the keyboard so that an 18 month old cannot make the computer perform functions I didn't know it was capable of?
This kid runs up and types and suddenly the computer is downloading things, backgrounds are changed, harddrives are reformatted etc etc.
I understand keeping the kid away would be ideal but for those times when it's not possible I want to know how to lock the keys.

If you get into the habit of doing that as soon as you get up from the computer, you'll find that it's second nature %26amp; should prevent your little PC terrorists from striking at random.

My keyboard now controls volume and media player e.g m key=mute. How to I stop it/change it back?
I dont know what I did but its annoying trying to listen to a cd on media player and type something on word or msn. Some letters control the media player causing it to pause, skip, mute ect.. looked in my control pannel and settings and dont know where its changed or how to change it back. Okay, I managed to break the LCD display on my laptop yesterday. I was planning to replace the laptop some time in the summer when I had a bit more money, so I don't want a repair. I suspect that would be possible, but if I successfully connected the two, would I need to do anything to make the display come on? I've somehow changed the setting of my keyboard. Thinking it's the keyboard i bought a new one but that still didn't work. My keyboard types in the wrong characters?
I have a gateway laptop with windows 7. When i type in some of the grammer symobls i get weird letters like this. 脠猫脌篓^^篓脟脵霉. how to i fix this. I cant use square brackets or commas or most of the other grammer stuff.

How do I switch to romaji -> kana conversion instead of using Japanese Keyboard settings?
I'm using Windows XP, using Microsoft IME Standard 2002 and Microsoft Natural Input 2002. I used to have these extra buttons on my language bar that allowed me to switch between different input modes (hiragana, full/half-width katakana, full/half-width alphanumeric), but for some reason, those buttons are no longer there. The only way to enter Japanese text without using an external program now is to click the 'kana' button, in which case it just acts like I have a Japanese keyboard (with every key becoming kana directly, with QWERTY becoming ??????). This is rather annoying, as I don't have a Japanse keyboard, nor do I know the Japanese keyboard layout. I can't get Logitech wireless keyboard and Microsoft optical mouse to work together?
I installed the Logitech Wireless Keyboard software on my computer, and a Microsoft Optical Mouse (it's not wireless). Even though I chose only they keyboard when I installed the Logitech software, it installed the wireless mouse in my device manager anyway, which was blocking the functions of my 5 button mouse. I figured out that I had to uninstall the logitech wireless mouse from my device manager in order for the other mouse to work, but every time i turn on the computer, it is installed again. And every time I log on to the computer, my pointer settings on my microsoft mouse change. Problem with shift key?
When i am on the internet and i press the shift key on my laptop it asks if i want to turn on to standy by i have changed the keyboard settings and turned the sticky keys off. I have cleaned the keyboard as well and there was no dirt etc there

I accidentally changed my mouse settings to a gaming control device and now have no use of any portable mouse or the touch pad. I'm not sure the keyboard is functional either. What's wrong with my keyboard settings?
After reinstalling windows my keyboard config got messed up. Basically, when I press the ' button, nothing will appear until I have pressed the next key. It will then determine whether to place an apostrophe or an accent. For example, pressing ' and then E makes a 茅 letter. This is a pain, I'd prefer for the apostrophe and speech marks to appear after just one press. How do I change this?What%26#039;s wrong with my keyboard settings?Check this first,

Windows 7 region settings need help!?

Windows XP, how to change the default drag and drop settings?
I have windows XP on my computer and I just had it formatted. I used to be able to drag and drop icons and it would simply move them to the new folder. Now it seems like the default setting is to copy. I tried googling this but all I get is how to change the option with the keyboard/mouse. I want to change this setting permanently because I move a lot of files.

Without reinstalling and stating that I'm in the UK during installation, how the heck can I change my keyboard settings to UK? I have a HP vt6200 Omnibook laptop with German Keyboard. Recently my internal harddisk crashed and I replaced with a new IDE disk. I installed Windows XP (English US) afresh. How to Change Windows Vista from English to Spanish?

I have purchased a Laptop with windows vista. I want to give it to my close friend as gift on his upcoming birthday. But the problem is he doesn't understand English very well.
I want to convert everything into Sapnish including all the menus, help files, everything. I tried using Country and Regional Settings, but there is no option beside changing keyboard.
So, what are my options?

Problem is if this setting is turned off (Disabled) and your PS/2 port doesn't work your kinda stuck. I have 2 other PS2 keyboards that are good But PS2 plug/slot in my cpu doesnt works. :(

How to change Bios Setting?
A big Help plz? :(I Need to change Bios Settings ?There is a setting in the BIOS of most computers called %26quot;USB Emulation%26quot; which allows the bios to see a USB keyboard like it was a PS/2 keyboard. Problem is if this setting is turned off (Disabled) and your PS/2 port doesn't work your kinda stuck. Not a lot you can do about it I'm afraid.I Need to change Bios Settings ?most usb keyboards should work fine, repeatedly press either F2, F8, or F12 (they are the most common 'setup' keys for a motherboard) right after you switch on your computer for around 10 seconds.
once you are in the BIOS, goto boot selection/sequence etc and follow the instructions given to change the boot order so that your CD is at the top.
How do i change num lock settings?
So, idk what i did, but i pressed something on my keyboard and everything got all messed up. i have a 17%26quot; hp laptop with a number pad. before today, i was able to have number lock %26quot;on%26quot; and be able to use my keyboard. but now, when i turn number lock on, the right side of my keyboard turns into the number pad, so the u, i, o, p keys turn into 4, 5, 6, *
any help please?How do i change num lock settings?If sounds like your laptop is working as it should. When number lock is on, those number become active. When number lock is off, you should get the letters. There should be a light near the keyboard to determine if Num Lock is on (lit) or off (unlit). You may have to press the num lock key to turn it on or off as needed. Some laptops have a numlock key and other have a numlock key that will work only if you press shift and numlock. Keyboard Problems again!!?
Please help, I need answers!!
My keyboard has an %26quot;E- Mail%26quot; button on it. It used to be programed to Yahoo! Mail.
One day my computer broke down, we got it fixed, and then the mail button didn't work anymore!
A couple of weeks later it works! Bam! Then here comes up Microsoft Outlook. Great. I tried to go to the keyboard settings and change the e- mail button to Yahoo! mail; but it still goes to Microsoft Outlook!
What can I do??
How can I change the e- mail button back to Yahoo! Mail; so it won't go to Micrsoft Outlook??
Ughhh! Pease Help!?!
- Fustrated, shall I say very?Keyboard Problems again!!?you could try uninstalling outlook, not sure how easy this is.
Otherwise do you have the software for the keyboard? I had a little look in the control panel for a solution but couldn't see an easy answer.
