When I press " shift' " I get " not @. How do I change my keyboard settings?

My keyboard settings are set to UK English but when I try to enter a @ by using the shift key and the apostrophe key together, I get speech marks, which is shift 2 on the keyboard. How do I correct this?|||Change your keyboard settings from UK english to US english.

U need to go to Control Panel, and Regional %26amp; Language Settings.

Look for UK English and change the selection to US English.

Click OK to save and exit.|||Maybe change it to American English? I%26#039;m not sure.. shift + %26#039; always made %26quot; while shift+2 always made @ for me since the beginning of time..
