How to fix pc key board settings?

My little brother played %26quot;3D pinball%26quot; on our pc computer and before he played an option popped up asking him if he wanted to change the keyboard settings to allow him to play better, he okayed it and now when anyone tries to type anything the letters are delayed from the time you press the key- you have to hold down the key for about 3 seconds before the letter appears on the screen. any ideas on how to restore the old settings so we can type faster?
