How do I change the settings on my keyboard?

My dog ran across my keyboard on my laptop and now there%26#039;s a blinking black line on all my internet pages (like the black line on Word that shows you where your spot is). Does anyone know how to change this?|||Reboot the computer and should reset. If not go to system restore and restore computer back just to the point when it was working.|||Try altering the display settings and resolution.. It might help.
