The '@' sign I have to press shift then 2, instead of shift and the key next to enter.

Also I need the sound putting back on as I have just re-installed windows XP on a Dell dimension 4600 and I have no sound :-(

when you go into the settings in administrator have you just the UK settings? if not then you need to delete the other countries, this should change the settings for the children, if that doesn%26#039;t work you could have a faulty keyboard or keyboard drivers.

Also, is it a wireless keyboard? If so, it could be the batteries failing, something blocking the signal or how far away the keyboard is from the receiver. If it is wireless, try resetting the connection. It might even be a neighbour with a similar wireless keyboard. Your rebooting resets you and their keyboard. They have strange behaviour, reset their keyboard and you are back to square one. Wireless keyboards aren鈥檛 supposed to have that kind of range, but believe me they do.

On my laptop, F11 starts the numLock - try FN +F11 to put it back. (may differ on other models/makes)
